Patient Information

Welcome to our web site and thank you for allowing us to participate in your care. The following information will help you to understand how our office functions.

Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is the specialty of dentistry which focuses on the surgical treatment of diseases, deformities and injuries of the mouth and face. Following the completion of dental school, an oral surgeon will spend four or more years in a residency program studying oral and facial surgery, as well as anesthesia, general surgery and medicine.

Drs. Dachille, Laing and Paladino are board certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons. We offer a full scope of surgical services. Our staff consists of caring and dedicated health-care professionals who communicate well with the patients to insure that all questions and concerns are addressed. Our office is one of the most up to date and well-equipped facilities in the area. All necessary anesthesia and emergency resuscitative equipment is present. We are very proud of the excellent reputation our practice of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery has developed and constantly strive to make all patient visits as pleasant as possible.

Your first visit to our office will, most likely, be for a consultation with Dr. Dachille, Dr. Laing and Dr. Paladino. It is important for us to meet you and review your x-rays and examine you to determine what surgery is necessary and where the surgery can be safely performed. Most routine oral surgery is done in the office in our operating room. At times, due to health concerns and/or the complexity of the surgery, the procedure will need to be done at the hospital. This will be discussed with you during your consultation. Several different anesthetic techniques can be utilized to accomplish the surgery. Local anesthesia, intravenous sedation and intravenous general anesthesia may be used. A recommendation regarding an appropriate type of anesthesia will be discussed during the consultation.

Insurance Information

Insurance for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery can be confusing. Some policies will cover the surgery as a medical expense, while others cover it under a dental plan. Most often, impacted wisdom teeth are covered by medical insurance. Routine extractions are usually covered by dental insurance. Our insurance coordinator will make every effort to simplify and verify your type of coverage prior to surgery. While we participate in most (HMO) managed care programs, you must have a referral from your primary care physician before you are examined in our office. Most medical procedures (biopsies, infections, TMJ, wisdom teeth extraction) will require this referral. Our insurance coordinator will file your insurance claim. Upon our receipt of an insurance payment, any balance will be billed to you. Co-payments and deductibles are payable on the day of your surgery. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and personal checks.

Please call our office at 412-653-7400 if you have any questions or concerns regarding your initial consultation.
